The Foreign Investors Summit debuted on Tuesday morning, with the organizer team ready to welcome the participants eager to hear the latest legal and fiscal updates from Government official or the most interesting study cases from representatives of the Private sector.

The opening conference, moderated by Cosmin Vasile, Managing Partner, Zamfirescu Racoti & Partners, featured some of the most interesting presentations of the day.

Alexandru Nastase, secretary of state, DPIIS:said that his “main priority is placing Romania on the global investment map. (…) Today Romania is recommended by the three major rating agencies: Fitch, Moody’s and Standard&Poor’s”. During the same segment, Lucian Croitoru, counselor to Mugur Isarescu, governor of BNR, announced that his institution expects “an inflation of around 2 percent next year. Maybe a little more.”

In the Energy conference that followed, Paolo Insigna, Intesa Sanpaolo said that “Romania has a very balanced mix in terms of energy resources but some investments are required”. Furthermore, Daniela Lulache, CEO Nuclearelectrica argued that “Romania has indeed large production capacities, but they are obsolete, pose environmental problems and need retechnologization. “

The final component of the day was the Agriculture conference, moderated by Nadia Crisan, Managing Director McGuireWoods Consulting Romania. Robert Rekkers, CEO, Agricover Credit IFN, showed us the impressive diversity of investments that can be made in Romania, in agriculture, but in spite of all it has to offer, the sector is still heavily under-financed.
